If you want to get the most out of this book, read it slowly and thoughtfully. Meditate on the concepts expressed in Scripture and explained and expanded in this book. Rejoice and tell others what you learned about God's heart of love for us, seen in Christ! I loved my sojourn in this book, reading only a few pages every night before drifting off into peaceful sleep, pillowed on the breast of Jesus. If you like only fluffy, quick, mindless reads, you won't enjoy this book at all. If you want to come repeatedly to the heart of Christ and find rest for your soul, this is a book you will love and reread.

I absolutely love reading and was so excited to read this book! I only made it to chapter 5 before I couldn't read it anymore and wanted to throw the book away.

Cons:

He is very redundant in his writing. The basic theme of the first five chapters is that God is love.

He overquotes the same person to the point that it becomes blatantly obvious when the next quote will make a reappearance.

It reads like an academic journal.

He is very narrow minded. If you like reading from the point of view that lacks diversity and recognition of people being unique, then this book is perfect.

His theology seems iffy at times. There are a couple times when he seems to contradict himself.

He lists MANY bible verse references, but doesn't include the verse. Don't worry. The guy he frequently quotes will include the full quote.

His writing is very bland and shallow.

A beautiful book that I highly recommend.

A group of ladies invited me to their study of this book. The more I read, the more excited I became and realized these ladies might have started this book in search of a study regarding resting in Christ, but it was so much MORE! This book is about exactly what it says, the HEART of Christ. It brought my thoughts of Him to a new level. Between this book and The Chosen films, I can truly say that I am so in love with Christ in a way I never thought I would be and a way that I have only prayed to experience. Thank you, Dane, for revealing things I had overlooked and in such a way that I couldn't wait for the next chapter and the next and the next! This is a book that will remain in my library to be read over and over. Yes! A life-changing book for sure.
